May 5, 2008 A Note from One of Our Supporters! We thought we'd share a message from one of the many courageous folks who take on the huge responsibility of adopting a mustang. Carol is from Oakham, Massachusetts and has offered to spread the word on the East Coast for the Let 'em Run Foundation. The pictures on the left are her horses. -----Original
Message----- Hello, Sincerely, Carol Poole ----
Bob Retzer <bob@lacyjdalton.com wrote: You most certainly can have permission to use our logo and organization name on your trailer. Thanks for your support of our efforts to save the wild horses and we personally thank you for adopting a mustang. My wife, Betty has five of them - Spirit, Suzi, Lucky, Snoopy and Snickers - so I can attest to the devotion it takes to take on such a responsibility. You can see our five here and Betty's dedication to the first one she adopted, Lucky. I spoke with your daughter a few minutes ago to let her know that, due to a" Senior Moment", I sent you your Wild Horse Crossing CD on Thursday, then sent another today!! Feel free to share the additional copy with a friend - its on the house! Best regards, Bob -----Original
Message----- Hello Bob, Thank you for allowing us to use the name and logo on our trailer. We are in constant touch with lots of horse owners in our little neck of the woods and I would love to try to do whatever I can to help Let 'em Run. Our local farm supply store (Klem's) in the next town over is holding an equine day in a couple of weeks and vendors can rent a table and I was thinking that maybe my daughter and I could go and distribute information about Let 'em Run and the plight of the Mustang in general. I would give anything to not have had to adopt Sierra (our Mustang), they belong in the wild with their own kind and their own families. Sierra came from the Ridgecrest Holding Facility in California in August 2007. The BLM couldn't tell us much about her other than she was probably captured in California/Nevada. She was just turning 1 yr. old when we got her. We love her dearly and want to use her to educate others about what is happening to these majestic animals. We have no horse training background but have read everything about mustangs that we can get our hands on. After only two and half months we were able to have a "sleepover" with her in the barn and she decided to come in every night after that (just in time before the dreaded winter). Every morning I take Sierra from her stall, then we walk to the entrance/exit of the barn where she comes to a full halt and looks around for a few seconds trying to decide if she really wants to go out there, while she looks all around I look directly into her eye and say "trust me" and she immediately walks on all the way to her pen. We also have 3 other horses, all of them are rescues of one sort or
another. I emailed your Governor, Senators and Department of Agriculture after
my first visit to the Let 'em Run website last week. Would a petition
help your efforts? Carol |
