Roy
Rogers is a producer/performer who is regarded worldwide as one of
the premier slide guitarists performing today. With a degree in History,
Rogers has a vast knowledge of American Roots Music, and has accomplished
a lifelong passion of performing and producing it. He has released seven
solo recordings to date, and has been nominated for two Grammy awards
as an artist and songwriter. Rogers currently performs at special festivals
and venues around the world. As producer, he has six credits for the production
of Grammy-nominated recordings. Most notably four of John Lee Hooker's
(The Healer, Mr. Lucky, Chill Out, Boom, Boom), and two of National
Medal of Arts recipient Ramblin' Jack Elliott's (Friends Of Mine,
The Long Ride). Rogers' film work includes One Flew Over The Cuckoo's
Nest with Jack Nitzsche, The Hot Spot for director Dennis Hopper
(nominated for a Grammy), and his own score for the feature, Men In
Scoring Position. His most current record production features singer-songwriter
Shana Morrison (daughter of Van Morrison) as well as himself on
a CD entitled, Everybody's Angel.
Together
Tom Bocci and Roy Rogers have combined their production
talents on the track, "This Land Is Your Land" featuring
Jose Feliciano, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Bill Miller,
Dar Williams and Alvin Youngblood Hart for the forthcoming
"Rockin' Patriots" compilation on Rhino Records to
be released in May 2001. This project represents their great mutual interest
and passion for recording music of both quality and substance. Although
they have produced numerous projects individually before, working together
has made them realize their joint experience and contacts can bring something
unique to the recording process and casting of artists to songs; and has
led to the formation of their current partnership - Bona Fide Productions.
