Casino Fandango Hosts Emergency Wild Horse Summit in State Capital

An emergency wild horse summit was held for advocates from all over the country in Carson City, Nevada. The the Casino Fandango hosted the summit on January 2nd and 3rd. The meeting was held to create a strong response to the Burns Amendment which was sneaked into the Congressional Appropriations Bill of 2005. It allows wild horses in Federal Sanctuaries to be sold to slaughter and negates the Wild Horse & Burro Act of 1971, which protects them. We feel the Burns Amendment is a violation of the will of the American People. We did not vote for this amendment.

Lacy and Jim Lewin performed on January 2nd after the meeting along with friends including Richard Elloyan, Wills Lamm, Tom Wilhiot, and Tee Lee. Elloyan, one of the premier cowboy poets of Nevada, is author and singer of “The Escape” from our “Wild Horse Crossing” CD.
