Bolos and Blue Jeans Event a Huge Success

June 2002, RENO, NV — The Let ’em Run Foundation joined forces with the Nevada Wild Horse Commission, the BLM Wild Horse Interpretive Center, and the Nevada Department of Corrections “Baby Barn” project to raise money for all four organizations. The invitation-only event was called "Bolos and Blue Jeans" and featured a wonderful dinner, silent and live auctions, and entertainment and dancing.

The event was well attended by horse advocacy groups, the BLM, the Department of Agriculture, top local politicians, families, friends, neighbors, artists and TV and radio personalities. Local businesses, corporations, and artisans donated items for the auctions. Over $30,000.00 was raised to help support these four very worthwhile organizations. $12,000.00 of that was donated specifically for the Silver Springs “Baby Barn” project at the Women’s Prison, where inmates will learn nurturing by raising orphaned wild foals. Prison programs like this are extremely successful for inmates. Only one quarter of the inmates involved in animal programs like this ever go back to prison.
